FaLL cAll

Fall is definitely here in Delhi, and, I couldn't be happier to welcome it by bringing out my beloved blazers!
I love the chic and put-together touch a cropped blazer can give most outfits, even this boho maxi with the chunky gold jewellery looks more sophisticated thanks to my grey blazer!

My exams are finally done (thank the lord) and it's time for some fun with my friends, dressing-up and shopping!
I'll keep you guys updated :)

I did some make-up shopping this week and got myself some beauties! So exited! (as you can probably tell with the overload of exclamation marks!!!!) :P

Wearing:
Printed maxi dress: vintage, blazer; Hong-Kong flea market, sunglasses: Alcott, neck-piece; vintage, bangles and bracelet; gifts, gold watch: vintage

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend!

I missed you guys! It feels so good to be back!

Back in Yellow!

Hello!
I must admit; I missed you guys so much! and it feels good to be back :) I'm finally done with my summer internship (which was so great, I learnt some crazy-cool stuff about fabrics and the garment industry in India).

Now, I'm working on styling and costumes for a Musical Dance Production titled 'Juliet Must Die' by The Yellow Brick Project to be staged in Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi on the 13th and 14th of August!
It's our third year of putting up a musical and this year is going to be (hopefully) bigger, better and more glamorous than ever!
I'll update you guys when tickets become available, but you can also check out their Facebook page and stay updated with what's happening behind the scenes HERE.
It's a bunch of young and talented people coming together so it's always crazy fun!

Now, for the outfit!

Go Gingham!

I've wanted a Gingham shirt for a while now, so it was at the top of my 'to-find' list (it's true, I'm one of those people who make lists for everything!) when I went shopping week before last.
Some fun stuff about the Gingham:
Gingham is a plain woven fabric typically made from dyed cotton yarn. Gingham shirts have been typically worn by the Mods since the 1960s and continue to be identified with fans of indie and mod music with brands like Pretty Green, Fred Perry and Rough Trade producing gingham shirts. Interestingly, the name originates from an adjective in the Malay Language, ging-gang, meaning striped! That's because the name supposedly came into English via Dutch and when originally imported into Europe in the 17th century it was a striped fabric, though now it is distinguished by its checkered pattern!

Wearing:
Gingham shirt and long white tank: thrifted, tights: Benetton, strappy sandals: Carlo Bruni, Bag: Accessorize, multi-strand necklace: thrifted

Happy Friday everyone!

Have a nice weekend and thanks for stopping by,

New Shoes!

You guys! I bought new shoes! Infact last Saturday I went shopping in general after the longest time ever and it was the best feeling :)
They're simple suede gladiator (almost) flats in nude; something I needed for everyday wear to college and work. And, my love affair with florals this summer continued as I added another floral shirt to my wardrobe!
I've never been very good at Math, but, I recently came up with the following formula:

Jeans/Pants + Belt + Shirt + 1 nice accessory = My pick for easy-breezy work outfit (especially for those groggy mornings your brain refuses to work)

Wearing:
Jeans and belt: Benetton, floral shirt: American Outfitters, sling bag: Salvatore Ferragamo, strappy sandals: Carlo Bruni

To Honesty

 Wearing:
Black tee: MNG basics, Skirt: thrifted, metallic flats: Old Navy, Belt: Hong-Kong street bazaar

I wore this to work yesterday and I have to admit that it isn't one of my favorite outfits; sometimes things look good in your head but not so much in real life. But, you guys keep me honest so I decided to blog this outfit anyways!
Tomorrow will hopefully be a better outfit day, I know today already was (you'll see soon ;)).

Oranges and Pink

I actually wore this to work today, I took out my awesome quilted orange chain bag out of my closet after almost a year (why would I keep something so awesome locked up for so long? I'm not sure myself!).
I'm not a very pants person and I prefer dresses and skirts to jeans and pants any day, but sometimes you just need to wear the pants :P

I used a simple trick for this look; simple outfit in basic colours contrasted with fun accessories in popping hues.
Wearing:
Tee: thrifted, checked pants and pink studded belt: Bangkok, quilted chain bag: Hong-Kong, sandals: Old Navy, pendant: Accessorize

Have I Broken The Spell?

Remember how I shared with you guys the slight trouble I was having with dressing up for work and not feeling like a boring old lady? (If you don't remember go HERE and HERE). Well, progress is slow, but I think I may have broken the bad spell (touch-wood, I'm really superstitious!).
I wore this to office today; safe but not so bad eh?

 Wearing:
High-waist skirt: Zingrin, printed shirt: H & M, Belt: from an overcoat, Pendant: Accessorize, Snake-skin flats: Charlottle Russe

I hope everyone is having a good week!

Atleast I Tried

Remember when I promised myself and you guys that I'd do a nice outfit for work this week, well, this was my attempt to that, or should I say failed attempt. I know what you're thinking; 'this is a cute outfit' (why thank you, I think it is to :P). But, minutes into wearing it and clicking pictures, it dawned upon me that it may not be very 'work appropriate', atleast for the office I go to. The cropped blazer and ballet flats were a failed attempt to formal-ness (there I go making up words again, it's a talent I tell you). So, I changed into something boring in the next 30 seconds to avoid being late in my first week of work (I wore jeans and a long cotton top if you may know :S) .
But then, atleast I tried, right?

Wearing:
Dress: Envy Me, cropped blazer: Hong-Kong, belt: Bangkok, flats: Linking Road, Bombay, Hobo bag: Accessorize, bangles: thrifted

I tried the look with the belt over the blazer (above) as well as under the blazer (first photo); which one do you like better?

This dress is 100 % polyester and I'm not a very synthetic fabric person, but the print (Hello! Floral!) and the beautiful ruffle detailing along the side made it to yummy to resist buying!

Working Gal

Hello!
So, I know my post title is a little cheezy, but, I just started my summer internship and its my first internship/working experince in a 'real' office ever! and I'm so exited!
I've been a little confused on how to dress up for work; casual and comfortable but still put-together and chic is what I'm trying to go for. I haven't quite figured out my office-outfit style yet (which also explains the lack of daily outfit posts the past week) but, I think I'm getting back on track!
I promise a fun work outfit tmr :)

This is what I wore to work on one of the days this past week.
I hope everyone is having a nice summer vacation full of family, friends and fun!

Have a lovely week ahead and thanks for stopping by.

Obsessed with Florals

I just have one thing to say, and if you've been seeing my recent posts you may have already figured it out- I'm totally obsessed with floral prints right now! Florals were a big trend this winter, but there's just something about wearing pretty floral prints in the summer that's gotten me addicted!
I went flea market shopping with my girlfriends this week (nothing like some pre-exam retail therapy to set the mood eh ? :P) and everything I bought was, you guessed it - floral!

Wearing:
Panelled jeggings and flats: Bangkok, floraltop: thrifted, Belt: Paprika, Lifestyle, gold cuff: courtsey Theme, sling bag: Accessorize

While between-studying-browsing (and, I do a LOT of that!) I found this awesome awesome website called Pinterest, it's crazy-addictive and super fun! you should check it out! I'm sure you'll find something to inspire you there :)

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Simplici-T

Sometimes there's nothing like the simple charm of a basic white tee and blue denims. I wore this outfit to school today; adding a pretty floral scarf I thrifted yesterday and my colourful LeSportSac butterfly bag to liven things up a little.
I have my finals from Monday, so, the next 2 weeks are going to be CRAZY!!!

Wearing:
Skinny jeans and tee: to old to remember!, scarf: thrifted, thong slippers: Old Navy, belt: thrifted, Bag: LeSportSac, Nailpaint: Chanel 217 Splendeur

Sunday Sun

I've worn this outfit to school twice in the past month but never got a chance to click it, so, today when my best from school Swati came over for a fun day-spend (that's right, we still have those :P), she was the perfect person to click for me! She has a great eye for style and design and we can't stop talking about clothes, fashion and shopping (and almost anything under the sun) whenever we meet. Nothing beats hanging out with your girlfriends!
Today was such a fun day :)

Wearing:
Dress: thrifted, pendants: gift and self-made, belt: from a pair of pants, faux snake-skin flats: Charlotte Russe, rings: Dharamsala and Silofer (GK 1 M-Block market, New Delhi), Little hat (worn as brooch): gift from friend (what can I say, I have nice friends :)), Nail-paint: Chanel 217 Splendeur

I'm really enjoying wearing easy-breezy dresses this summer especially in floral prints (case in point)
What do your summer-staples consist of?

Black, White and Red All Over

I have a penchant for Mixing Prints; But, I also find it a little tricky, especially when it comes to mixing prints in different colours.
Some tricks that help me with mixing same-colour prints are:
  1. Keeping a basic and limited colour palette when mixing very different prints.
  2.  Keeping one major print and the rest minor (for instance; in the outfit above; the skirt is the major print; while the easy print of the racer back qualifies as a minor print).
  3. Usually, smaller prints make one look slimmer and large prints can make one look a little bigger, depending on your body type, you can use that to your advantage.

I think tips for mixing coloured prints can wait for another day and another post :)

Wearing:
Skirt: thrifted, tank: ?, heels: Bangkok, bangles: thrifted, Nail Paint: Chanel 455 Lotus Rouge

I hope everyone is having a good week! mine's been a little crazy and very tense :(

'The Sun is To Bright' or 'Pictures & Words'

Even though it's been almost 6 months since I started blogging, it didn't take me long to realize that most fashion/style/lifestyle blogs and other blogs that involve lots of photographs, are as much about the quality of photography as they are about the written content and ideas behind the posts. Beautifully shot and interesting photographs makes for great visual stimulation; and as the cliche goes 'A picture is worth a thousand words'. Though, I don't think pictures and words can ever completely replace each other; it's the perfect combination of the two that makes for a complete treat!

(A few blogs with beautiful photographs and beautiful people: Jak & JillFashion ToastThe GlamouraiJen Loves Kev and, how can i forget one of my favorite blogs ever! - Karla's Closet)

This is just something I threw on for school the other day, it was to sunny when we shot these photographs (as I'm sure is clearly visible!)
Wearing:
My electric blue jeans that I wear to much: 5th Avenue, gold cuff: courtesy Theme, pendant: thrifted, printed top: thrifted, bronze sandals: GK 1 M-Block Market, New Delhi, Nail paint: Chanel 455 Lotus Rouge

Barbie Like?

I wore this cute little outfit to school the other day and it made me feel like Barbie for a bit (it was fun).
I'd been thinking about styling this old green cotton skirt of mine (which is supposed to be worn low-waisted) for a while, it's such a beautiful colour and it's so SS '2011!
I'd been thinking of a way to make it more current and more 'me' so I just tightened it's drawstrings and  pushed up the extra fabric at the back and tucked it safely under my trusty belt! :)
It made the length more fun and flirty as well!
I wasn't to sure about the sandals with this outfit though, what do you guys think?

Wearing:
Skirt and belt: thrifted, printed tee: Mussourie, Old Navy tank (worn under), sandals: thrifted (Janpath, New Delhi)

Happy Happy Good Friday to you all :)
