Black, White and Red All Over

I have a penchant for Mixing Prints; But, I also find it a little tricky, especially when it comes to mixing prints in different colours.
Some tricks that help me with mixing same-colour prints are:
  1. Keeping a basic and limited colour palette when mixing very different prints.
  2.  Keeping one major print and the rest minor (for instance; in the outfit above; the skirt is the major print; while the easy print of the racer back qualifies as a minor print).
  3. Usually, smaller prints make one look slimmer and large prints can make one look a little bigger, depending on your body type, you can use that to your advantage.

I think tips for mixing coloured prints can wait for another day and another post :)

'The Sun is To Bright' or 'Pictures & Words'

Even though it's been almost 6 months since I started blogging, it didn't take me long to realize that most fashion/style/lifestyle blogs and other blogs that involve lots of photographs, are as much about the quality of photography as they are about the written content and ideas behind the posts. Beautifully shot and interesting photographs makes for great visual stimulation; and as the cliche goes 'A picture is worth a thousand words'. Though, I don't think pictures and words can ever completely replace each other; it's the perfect combination of the two that makes for a complete treat!

(A few blogs with beautiful photographs and beautiful people: Jak & JillFashion ToastThe GlamouraiJen Loves Kev and, how can i forget one of my favorite blogs ever! - Karla's Closet)

This is just something I threw on for school the other day, it was to sunny when we shot these photographs (as I'm sure is clearly visible!)

Barbie Like?

I wore this cute little outfit to school the other day and it made me feel like Barbie for a bit (it was fun).
I'd been thinking about styling this old green cotton skirt of mine (which is supposed to be worn low-waisted) for a while, it's such a beautiful colour and it's so SS '2011!
I'd been thinking of a way to make it more current and more 'me' so I just tightened it's drawstrings and  pushed up the extra fabric at the back and tucked it safely under my trusty belt! :)
It made the length more fun and flirty as well!
I wasn't to sure about the sandals with this outfit though, what do you guys think?

Wearing:
Skirt and belt: thrifted, printed tee: Mussourie, Old Navy tank (worn under), sandals: thrifted (Janpath, New Delhi)

Happy Happy Good Friday to you all :)

A Sunny Day

Hello!!!
I'm just a little over-exited because I'm saying hello after so many days :)
So, I wore this pretty floral day-dress to school the other day; I picked it up from my favorite flea market in New Delhi. All it needed was a little 'nip and tuck' and a belt and voila! it fit me perfectly (or so I would like to believe)!

There's only one thing I like more than floral prints; floral print dresses cinched at the waist! and this dress ticked all the boxes. The tea-length hemline gave it a very vintage feel and made it very comfortable to prance around the streets of Delhi in!
Wearing:
Dress: thrifted, belt: Bangalore, flats: Charlotte Russe, black cotton pullover: Bangkok

Even though the skirt of the dress is 'pouffy' enough, it kind of made me feel like a dainty housewife from the 50's; something like the picture I found below (notice the thin belt at the waist and the classic Mary-janes)

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Grey Matter

This is an outfit I wore a really long time ago, but somehow never posted (I wonder why).
I really enjoy wearing pretty dresses when the weather permits and I'm looking forward to buying and wearing lots of Maxi Dresses this season.
What's your favorite dress style?  mini, maxi, solid, printed, striped, ruffled or...???

Wearing:
A 100% thrifted outfit; it's true, from the jelly flats to the puffed sleeved blazer; it's all thrifted!
Flats: Bangkok, dress: Delhi, blazer and pendant: Hong-Kong

I love the lines and silhouette of this blazer and its 100% cotton which makes it perfect to wear over dresses in spring!

Ketch-ing Up with Style

Today's post  is a special and long over-due post to thank the awesome folks over at Ketchup Bags and StylePile for picking me as the winner of their Facebook contest! I was the lucky girl who won this beautiful purple bag from Ketchup :D in the contest organized by my all time favorite hub for online style and inspiration; StylePile!!!
Talk about a good day!

I'd been looking forward to styling this bag since a while and wanted to do something slightly Indo-Western. Inspired by the purple and gold in the bag, I went for chunky gold accessories, a flouncy printed skirt and a bright top. I loved how the purple looked against the bright orange of the top, while the multi-coloured skirt brought the look together.
(I just realized that I'm such a colour-centric dresser (and, I'm making up words...again!))

This purple suede bag has some stunning gold detailing and a vibrant satin lining inside, not to mention that delicate golden shoulder-chain.
(Check out the Ketchup Bags website HERE, and the StylePile website HERE)

I hope you all are having a nice weekend!

Hello

Just a quick Hello today!
Hello :P

I wore this to class yesterday; it's a basic no-brainer; I tried to add a 'statement necklace' to make it funner (I love making up words). Sometimes, when I'm to lazy to put together an interesting outfit or just generally can't find inspiration, this is what I do- put on something as basic as jeans and a white shirt and add some fun accessories (like the ruffled sandals and chunky necklace in this outfit). It works out most of the time :P
Wearing:
Grey tank: Forever 21, Shirt and necklace: thrifted, jeans: Fifth Avenue, Sandals: Manhattan Mall

What are your 'Go-to' tricks when you can't get dressed one morning?

Scarf-y

I wore this outfit a few days ago to school. I love wearing comfy dresses during Delhi summers and they are the easiest thing to put on when you're getting ready in a hurry in the mornings! It's a simple jersey dress from Old Navy to which I added a scarf (tied around the waist as a belt) to make it more interesting.
Sometimes I'm lazy and I don't iron my clothes (as is clearly visible from the crumpled skirt), do you do that to? :P

 Wearing:
Dress: Old Navy, striped scarf (worn as belt): thrifted, Sandals: thrifted, necklace: Accessorize
(I've also rocked this floral necklace HERE)

I had the nicest most relaxing weekend with family, and INDIA WON the WORLD CUP! WOoohooo! That in itself instantly qualifies any weekend into super-duper weekend!
The boys in blue rocked their shit! Respect.

3 Buns and Blue Beads

This outfit was very 'by-chance' (if you know what I mean). My summer clothes have been lying on my rooms floor in a big pile since a week now (I swear I'm going to put them in my closet this weekend :P) so, when I get ready for school every morning it's a little hard as I can't seem to find anything anymore, I've put away all my winter clothes and the summer clothes aren't very wearable yet. So, this outfit came out from some of my wardrobe staples (I define them as items that stay in my closet all year round, no matter the season) read: basic tank, pastel shirt and my trusty high waist skirt (which I've also worn HERE and HERE).

 Wearing:
Pink tank-top: Old Navy, Shirt: H & M, Skirt: Zingrin, pearl detailing ballet flats: bangkok street, blue beads: thrifted (I got them from Janpath {flea market in New Delhi, India} 7-8 years ago for 10 rupees {pats self on back})

Hair-Share
Now for the explanation behind today's seemingly funny post title (and those funny blobs of hair peaking out from the sides of my head in the photos above. Am I the only one who noticed them ?).
I'm sure a lot of you know about the lovely Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo, she has an amazing blog full of inspiration and fun ideas. I recently saw some great Hair Tutorials on her blog (I'm so exited to try all of them in the coming week!).
The one you see above is the three twisted buns one (it's so simple and takes like 3-4 minutes to put together!) Mine is really untidy and its a sick picture, but it was really awesome in reality :) I got a lot of compliments and it kinda made me feel like a fancy working-gal!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
