Of Trees and Leaves

I feel like I merge in with the background with this outfit; the green and brown of the trees, the white of the walls.

Wearing:
Lace tank top: Bangkok, white shirt: H & M, Jeans: Benetton, Belt: Mussourie, Kolahpuri's (slippers): thrifted, charm pendant: self made (well, kind of)

I made this pretty little charm pendant myself by putting together 2 rings and one big safety-pin into a regular neck chain and then doubling it up to make it shorter :)
(Aren't I talented :P)
Make your own charm pendant by just chaining together all the pretty little trinkets you can find which have some sorta loop/whole in them (to put a chain/thread through).
It's quite fun :D

Antique Flower

I'm really exited to debut this beautiful antique flower pendant (that pink and gold thing at the end of that super long chain in my neck). I picked it up when I was out shopping with a friend last week and I've already worn in 3 days in a row! That's a sure sign you really something eh?
Do you do that often? wear something new that you love several days in a row when you just get it?

Wearing:
Collared tee: Levi's, Pants: Vero Moda, pendant and slippers: thrifted, belt: Paprika- Lifestyle

My super comfy khaki pants rolled up for the summers and for a casual day at school (I've also worn them HERE and HERE), worn with my classic Kolahpuri chappals (slippers); I haven't stopped wearing them the past few days either!

ANiMaL iNsPiRAtiOn

When I saw these stunning photographs of Model Natasha Polly in an animal print dress, it reminded me of this leopard print blouse which I wore (and clicked) when I first started my blog
I love how the leaf pattern on my belt adds to the whole jungle-nature (yes, it's true, I use funny word associations sometimes) vibe of the outfit in a very subtle manner while still adding some much needed bling!

Wearing:
Skirt: Bangkok (from a school uniform shop), blouse: Vintage, belt: Accessorize (I just played around with the belt and turned it around to get a look with both; the buckle and the leaf design), wedges: Bella, bangles: thrifted

(My camera is on vacation with my mom and dad so I'm going to be digging up some old outfit photographs for a few days).
It'll be fun right?

My Sash

I bought this faux leather sash-belt last week and I couldn't wait to wear it immediately! I wore this outfit a few days ago, but somehow didn't post these pictures earlier.
Incase you haven't noticed, I love belts! and this one is so versatile and interesting. I can't wait to play around with it in different ways to get a variety of looks :)

With this outfit I was still figuring out how exactly to style this belt, so I played it safe and went with neutral hues for the rest of the outfit and a focus on the maroon belt.
Wearing:
Belt: Kazo, Cardigan and flats: Charlotte Russe, Grey jersey dress and tights: thrifted

HaPpY HOli everyone!!!
Play safe!

Wide(n) Your View

Wide legged pants have been making a comeback for a while (check out how I wore them in an earlier post HERE) and I'm all for this awesome trend :)
I can't live without my skinnies, but wide legged jeans are the comfiest thing ever! they feel like big pajamas (that you can wear in public).

I've had this pair of Benetton jeans for over 7 years now, thank the lord I never threw them away and that they still fit me, it sure helped me save a few bucks!
What goes around comes around eh?

Wearing:
White tank and ruched sleeve top: Forever 21, Scarf: thrifted (50 rupees = 1 $), jeans: Benetton, black wedges: Bella, belt: thrifted, bangles: gift from friend

I learnt how to tie my scarf in this innovative way (I basically tied both the ends together, made a loop, put it around my neck and belted it. You know I'd belt anything right?) from a lovely lady named Sydney; you can check out her husband and her awesome blog HERE, it's called The Daybook :D

Minnie Me?

This is what I wore today. A friend said I looked like Minnie Mouse, it's a long shot, but I love her so I believed it :)
Wearing:
T-shirt: Levi's, Cardigan and flats: Charlotte Russe, tights and skirt: Hong-Kong, Faux patent leather belt: Bangkok

Tips on Tights
I love love patterned tights (they add a slight something to an otherwise regular outfit and specific patterns can actually make your legs appear slimmer! like the one I'm wearing; it breaks the leg into smaller sections making it look slimmer :), also, wearing your tights over your heel (like I usually do) makes your legs look longer and leaner, and who doesn't like long legs right ;)
To see how I've worn tights in the past click HEREHEREHERE and HERE.

Freedom is White!

Hello!
So, my exams have officially ended (atleast for the next 2 months) :) They ended a few days ago but, I have to admit that I've been to busy having fun to post :P
About this outfit; you guys remember the the guest post I did for Jahn titled 'Monochrome Madness' (check out a sneak peak HERE) and the Victorian style white dress that I wore as a top there, well, this is what the complete dress actually looks like!

 Wearing:
White dress: thrifted, belt and wedges: Bangkok, Chain bag: Hong-Kong, flower ring: Hong-Kong, Chain and pears necklace: Bombay, Nail-paint: Chanel 159 Fire

It's a very simple dress, but the collar detailing is just so beautiful!

I hope you guys had a nice weekend!
It's Holi next week! yay!!!
I would love to know how you guys usually celebrate this lovely 'Festival of Colours' each year?

Pink Presentation

This is what I wore to college today for an exam + presentation, don't I look professional? :P
The pink of this sweater is one of my favourite colours, it always makes me really happy!
Wearing:
Black shirt and pink wool + angora sweater: Benetton, Linen skirt: Zingrin, tights: local market, belt: thrifted, heels: Bangkok

I don't really have many formal clothes, so I try and do all the re-mixing possible with the few pieces I have (I wore the same skirt for a presentation last semester HERE), I have 2 more presentations lined up this week, so you guys will be seeing some more of my remixing talents :)
Short post today since I should really be studying if I plan on passing tomorrow!

P.S
I've done this assignment for my 'Fashion Forecasting' subject at school which I present tomorrow. I've made some theme and fabric boards for that (my theme is 'Gothic Romance', exiting no?) and I'm going to show you guys all my artwork soon! :)

What Would a Nerd Wear?

During exams, I tend to live in my over-sized spectacles (which I do otherwise to actually) and my dressing takes a comfortable and functional turn . This is what I would wear on a typical exam day; no-fuss but still belted! :P
(Don't judge my dirty boots; my pet dog Fifi chewed them up a little + it was raining that day)
Wearing:
Electric-blue jeans: 5th Avenue, DLF Place mall, Saket, Black jacket: Benetton, Scarf: moms, Belt: Hong-kong, brown tshit: thrifted, boots: Wet Seal, Sling bag: Accessorize

Talking about 'What Would a Nerd Wear', I recently came across an awesome blog by the same name; it's an archive of grad school style of/by a student/teacher named Tania based in the US, studying British literature (find it HERE) . It made me realize that we all have a little nerd in us and I quite like the nerd in me :P
What brings out the nerd in you?

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Colour Me Crazy!

So, my exams began on Tuesday and this is what I wore on Monday; a sort of welcome for the exams :P
Since I have exams every two months at NIFT (yes, that's right and you though your life was hard :P), I've started taking it as it comes and don't let them become a tension for myself :)
Isn't my outfit pretty!??
(As you can tell, I'm in a funny-jokey-crazy mood, to much studies does that to one, and I'll have you know that I can be quite a nerd sometimes!)

This beautiful ghagra-skirt is something that I bought with my mom years ago, it's always been one of my most cherished pieces.
Wearing:
Skirt and belt: thrifted, White top: thrifted, Black cropped blazer and black tights: Hong-Kong, Jewellery: thrifted, shoes: Jodhpur
This had turned out to be a very 'thrifted' outfit! I just realized that nothing in it is even remotely branded!

This is what I meant when I said I can range from one extreme to another when it comes to the colour palette of my outfits; dark hues one day and a rainbow the next! But, then that's life, isn't it???

These psychedelic colours always cheer me up! they remind me of sand-dunes and deserts and gorgeous Rajasthani women with their beautiful garments and chunky silver jewellery walking across them!

A special tank you to Shivani for clicking me :)

Wish me luck!

Do you Re-Cycle?

These photographs are against a backdrop made by the 'Fashion Communication Department' at NIFT, Delhi. It was my absolute favorite from amongst all the stuff put up at the 3 day extravaganza that was SPECTRUM 2011 :)
Isn't it super fun? + it has a message, which in my books gives it a perfect 10!

This outfit is mainly basic, solid and dark hues, but I feel, the silhouette and layering makes it current. I added some shape and blinged it up a little with my black and gold belt from Accesssorize.  I have to admit that I have a ruffle-fetish going on and these ruffled ballet flats are part of that :)
Some days I tend to go all out colour (as you will see in my next post!) and other days I lean towards grey, navy and blacks. It's a complete mood thing!
Do you have your favorites? or does your mood (and occasion of course)) dictate your outfits colours???

Wearing:
Blue dress: thrift, black tights: Hong-Kong, Grey sweater: Promod, cropped black blazer: Hong-Kong, ruffled flats: Linking Road, Mumbai, belt: Accessorize, hair-band: Forever 21

Comic art anyone? :P
