Khaki Kaun?

Another Sunday draws to an end! (I love being dramatic for no apparent reason sometimes, try it, it can be fun and randomly entertaining!).
I have to many pairs of blue and black jeans/pants/trousers and decided that I needed to get some variety in the 'bottoms' department of my wardrobe, I found the perfect khaki trousers at Vero Moda last weekend :) they're formal enough to be worn out and comfortable and casual enough to be worn in a more laid back manner as well, I just LOVE them!
They're more of a camel colour, but I just enjoy calling them Khaki! Which led me to find out that; Khaki is one of the few words that the British got from us via the British Indian Army before 1947, it literally means 'dust-coloured'! The correct shade of "khaki" was also known as "Multani Mitti", meaning "the mud of Multan", Multan being a  military cantonment in Pakistan before independence.

Wearing:
White t-shirt: thrift, embroidered vest: Kazo, Khaki/Camel trousers: Vero Moda, Cage heels: Bangkok, Belt: Paprika, Lifestyle, quilted chain bag: Hong-Kong

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Rust-y Ladder

So, the other day my friends and I were doing what we usually do in between classes; sifting through fashion magazines! We came across this striking outfit in a rust and grey colour combination, and my friends suggested that I must try it, and I couldn't wait to! This outfit is a result of that inspiration moment we had.

Tip-toeing on this rusty old ladder was fun! Year's of dancing has sharpened by 'balancing' skills :)

Wearing:
Grey blazer: Hong-Kong thrift, rust sweater: to old to remember, black skirt and grey tank worn underneath: Forever 21, tights: GK- I M-Block market, ballet flats: Linking Road, Bombay, belt: thrift

A Happy-Sunny Day

I love wearing pretty ruffled pieces (surprise surprise)! and this purple dress which I recently bought is a total summer dress, but I couldn't resist wearing it right now! so, I just teamed it with a full sleeved tee and black tights underneath and added a nice fitted blazer with power shoulders on top.

Wearing:
Dress: Billabong, Tights and t-shirt: thrift, Shoes: Bangkok, Blazer: Hong-Kong thrift, Pendant: gift, rings and bangle?

I so don't want the weekend to end!

I love the power shoulders trend; what was earlier considered just a bad fashion memory from the 80's was given a trendy 21st century twist by the biggest designers including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Celine and Givenchy (to name a few!) and now we can't seem to get enough of it!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

3 Days

Today I decided to do things a little differently, I've put up a bunch of photos I've taken over the past few days but hadn't put up yet.
It's three completely different looks, for totally different occasions, showing three different sides to my personality.
Depending on my mood, I love dressing up girl-y and pretty in pinks and pearls and also a little edgy and fun with oodles of black.

Day 1: Biker Blab

The prettiest feather earrings (Forever 21)

Day 2: Semi Formal

Its Placement time at NIFT and this is what I wore to college today as a  placement volunteer, it was so much fun! :)

Day 3: Pretty Pearl

This is something I wore to a friends party a few weeks ago.

Brick by Brick & Layer by Layer

The NIFT campus in New Delhi is small but beautiful! it has some very interesting architecture, lot's of artwork, oodles of talent, and some refreshing greenery as well! (everything you would expect from a design institute + more!)
My lovely friend and classmate Shivani (who is also a fellow blogger; check her blog out HERE) took my photographs today in the NIFT campus; Thank You Shivani :)

I loved the pile of bricks at the side...such a nice site for photographs :)

Wearing:
Acid-washed jeans: Bangkok, Black sweater: Benetton, Grey open sweater: Promod, Belt and printed racer back (worn underneath; peaking out from under my top): thrift, striped grey t-shirt: Westside, boots: Wet Seal, clutch-wallet: Forever 21

I love layered dressing; its functional and stylish at the same time. It was my mom who first taught me the basics of how to layer (longer tops below shorter ones and complimentary/similar toned colors teamed together are a safe bet) but ofcourse, there are no real 'Rules' to dressing up, it's something so personal and spontaneous!
I kept the color palette of todays outfit very basic but I really liked it that way!

With so many layers in my outfit (four to be precise!) The slim waist-cinching belt was much needed to break the bulk and give my outfit some shape.

Also, a big shout out to the O-MAN for lending me his cool iphone 4 to click :)

Take 2

I have my 'go to' outfits for days when I can't think of what to wear (yes, just like everyone else I have those days to).
I wore the same sweater (which is my brothers!) a while back in a 'different but similar' outfit, for todays outfit I just played with the color of the tights and the accessories a little but kept the essential look the same. You can see the earlier look in an earlier post HERE
Here's a sneak peak:
I'd love to know which one you liked more?

Wearing:
Over-sized pullover: Brother's, tights: Bangkok thrift, Black dress (worn under): Benetton, black scarf and belts: thrift, Suede boots: Charlotte Russe

The black scarf I'm wearing in this post isn't actually an infinity scarf, but since I thought it would look nice with my outfit, I just knotted up the ends of my regular scarf and put the knot at the back and VOILA!

My classmate and friend Suhani has become my second photographer now :)
Thank you!

Of Furry Boots and the Eiffel Tower

Day II of semester II and this is what I wore to college.
I went thrift shopping with my girlfriends after class and got some very cute stuff which I'll be sharing on the blog soon :).
I wear a minimum of two sweaters nowadays and I'm bringing out all the warm boots and polo-necks I own! I often wonder what I'd do if I were actually born in a cold country like Canada! I have zero resistance to cold!

Wearing:
Black polo-neck sweater and open creme hooded sweater: Benetton, Electric blue jeans: Fifth Avenue, Boots: South Extension Market (last year), Pendant: present

My friends gave me my birthday present the other day (my birthday was in October so it's a little late, but the presents make up for it :)). This Eiffel Tower chain pendant is one of them and the moment I saw it I instantly fell in love :)
Don't we all just LOVE presents?

My beaten up furry boots = Warmth + Comfort = :D

Semester II

It's back to school for me and this is what I wore on my first day of semester II, it was a chilly day, which meant 2 sweaters + a coat!
Since I mentioned coats, I thought I'd share a little something about :
TRENCH COATS
The trench coat was first developed during the 1st World War after which it became an item of clothing for the British Army. Invention of the trench coat is claimed by both Burberry and Aquascutum, with Aquascutum's claim dating back to the 1850s. But Burberry still makes some of the best and most beautiful trench coats!
Infact, the Burberry trench is so iconic that the brand has a website Art of the Trench
which is a beautiful collection of photographs of real people from all over the world wearing Burberry trench coats and outerwear (Shot by the God; Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist himself). It celebrates the heritage and history of the Burberry trench.

Wearing:
Striped polo-neck sweater: Benetton, Black cardigan: GAP, tights: Kaza, Knitted boots: Venus Steps, Coat: Vibe, Bag: Kipling

Sunshine on your face on a chilly winter day is pure BLISS!

Pretty Pink!

Enjoying the last few days of my winter break (its back to school from Monday), I wore this to lunch on Saturday, we went to my favorite place 'The Big Chill Cafe' in Khan Market; they have the yummiest pastas and desserts!
My favorite is the 'Double Chocolate Decadence', its absolutely sinful!

Wearing:
Black tights and Blazer: Benetton, Suede boots: Charlotte Russe, Belt and Bag: Hong-Kong, Bracelet: Courtesy Theme, sweater and t-shirt worn underneath: don't remember :P, Muffler: thrift

This awesome blazer is my mom's! I was really lucky to find it because a nice blazer can cost anywhere between Rs. 2500-7000 nowadays.
Also, SALE SEASON is starting! lets hit the malls :D

I love teaming gold with pretty-girly colors. I feel it really brought out the peach-ish pink and cream in this outfit.

On a Weather note, New Delhi has become insanely COLD!!! Brrr...

Thanks for stopping by and stay warm :)
